Consultant Stroke Physician Doncaster Royal Infirmary
Dr Ahmad Maatouk, MD, FRCP (UK), PgDip, EDSI, is a Stroke and Acute Medicine Consultant and Clinical Lead for Stroke Services at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH). He leads the Trust’s digital transformation of stroke services and serves as the Point of Care Ultrasound Lead.
Ahmad also holds roles as Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Sheffield and Educational Lead for Stroke Medicine for the Yorkshire & Humber Deanery. His clinical and academic interests include advanced imaging, personalised medicine, and post-stroke spasticity management.
DBTH is one of only four NHS sites in England piloting CYP2C19 genetic testing for stroke patients, a programme Ahmad leads to integrate precision therapeutics into stroke pathways. He has contributed to major national trials including FOCUS, RESTART, and serves as Principal Investigator for the TRICEPS trial.
